Thread splitter for X and Bluesky
Paste long text and get a numbered thread where every post fits. Runs in your browser.
Your thread will appear here
Writing a thread that gets read
- Make the first post stand alone: the claim, the number or the question that makes someone open the thread.
- Keep one idea per post. If the splitter cuts mid-thought, add a paragraph break where you want the post to end.
- On X, put the link in the last post: every post with a link counts it as 23 characters wherever it sits.
- Check single posts with the character counter.
Frequently asked questions
Where does it break the text?
At paragraph breaks first, then at the end of a sentence, then between words. A single word longer than a post is cut, which is rare outside long links.
Does the numbering count toward the limit?
Yes. The " 1/6" counter is added to each post and the splitter leaves room for it, so every post fits with its number.
How are links counted?
For X, every link counts as 23 characters, however long it is. For Bluesky, the full link text counts, so long links use up more of the 300 graphemes.
Can I schedule the thread?
Copy each post, or schedule it in Illumipost, where the AI can also rewrite a long post into a thread for you.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The splitting happens in your browser.
